More Information on Vodafone and Vodafone Mobile BroadbandVodafone has its headquarters in Newbury in the UK and is the largest mobile network company in the world (based on turnover) surpassed only by China Mobile who has larger number of customers. They boast a massive market value of over £75 billion with operations in over 25 countries and partners in a further 42. The name Vodafone originally came from the words Voice, data and fone, and was chosen by the company to reflect the services that they offered within the telecommunications market. With an estimated 260 million customers Vodafone is a bear moth of the mobile networks and as such has one of the best UK and international networks. This is reflected in the speed available on their mobile broadband network with a massive 7.2mbps unrivalled by the other UK mobile broadband networks. The Vodafone history is as complex as their network however it all started in 1982 when the then called “Racal Electronics plc” won one of 2 UK mobile licenses. Over the following years the company grew with a series of acquisitions and savvy business moves. The holding company demerged this arm of the business and changed its name to Vodafone in 1991. The first 3G call made over the Vodafone network was in April 2001 and from then on the development of a high speed data network has seen to be a priority of the various businesses within Vodafone. As the market leader Vodafone are in a position ot offer the best speeds for Vodafone pay as you go and Vodafone contract mobile broadband provision. Their choices are similar in comparison to other networks like 3 and we can only see this expanding as the concept of Vodafone mobile broadband expands in the future. |
